Kamal & Kadambari – A Love Story: Gautham Menon hints at a reunion with Suriya!

Director Gautham Menon had recently spoken about planning a musical love story with Suriya. It is about two musicians, Kamal and Kadambari, who meet in London. How they fall in love out of their common taste for music forms the baseline of the plot. Suriya had also hinted about disusing such a project recently.

Interestingly, in Gautham Menon’s recently released short film ‘Karthik Dial Seytha Yenn’, Simbu’s character Karthik, who is a filmmaker, is seen working on a script titled ‘Kamal & Kadambari – A Love Story’. Fans believe it is the same Kamal-Kadambari story that the director had spoken about making with Suriya.

It will be huge if the project materializes as Suriya-Gautham Menon combo has a huge fan following. Their earlier collaborations were for ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ and ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, and both were milestone films in their respective careers. They were also supposed to work together in ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ but Suriya opted out due to creative differences. It was later revived with Vikram.

Gautham Menon is currently on a three-film deal with Vels International, a production house headed by Ishaki K Ganesh. He is presently working on ‘Joshua Imai Pol Naan Kaakka’, an action-thriller that has ‘Puppy’ fame Varun in the lead. A female-centric action film with Anushka Shetty is also in the pipeline. Talks for ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaayadu 2’ are also happening.

After releasing the first look poster last evening, the makers of ‘Ka Pae Ranasingam’ have shared the teaser online. Vijay Sethupathi and Aishwarya Rajesh play lead roles in the film. Directed by P Virumandi, the film looks like a powerful rural drama. The film based on true events looks a socially-relevant one in today’s times. According to the makers, it is a film that talks of justice, right, equality and more.

Music director Ghibran had recently tweeted in praise of the film. He called it one of the most important movies in Tamil Cinema. His tweet reads,

‘Ka Pae Ranasingam’ has Vijay Sethupathi and Aishwarya will be seen as a married couple. Samuthirakani, Rangaraj Pandey, Yogi Babu, Vela Ramamoorthy and many others form the supporting cast. Cinematographer NK Ekambaram, Ghibran and action choreographer Peter Hein are part of the technical crew. Kotapadi J Rajesh has produced the film under the banner of KJR Studios.

Last day, the first look poster of upcoming Tamil film ‘Ka Pae Ranasingam’ was released online. The poster features both the lead actors Vijay Sethupathi and Aishwarya Rajesh. Directed by P Virumandi, the film is touted to be an emotional drama. Shoot for the same was completed a few months back and it was supposed to hit screens in January. However, due to some unknown reasons it got postponed and now the makers are waiting for theatres to resume functioning.

As per the makers, ‘Ka Pae Ranasingam’ is a film that talks of justice, right, equality and more. Scripted by director Virumandi himself, the film is reportedly based on a real-life incident. Vijay Sethupathi and Aishwarya will be seen in equally important roles. This is their fourth outing together after ‘Rummy’, ‘Pannaiyarum Padminiyum’, and ‘Dharma Durai’.

As we already know, the much-awaited Amtiabh Bachchan-Ayushmann Khuranna starrer ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ will be releasing directly on Amazon Prime. The film is set to have its premiere globally on June 12. Meanwhile, its trailer has been released online and it looks like a fun story of a tenant and his aging landlord.

Ayushmnann plays a character named Baankey and Bachchan essays the part of his landlord, Mirza. From the trailer, we can make out that these two are constantly at loggerheads. Vijay Raaz, Brijendra Kala, Farrukh Jafar and many others are part of the cast.

‘Gulabo Sitabo’ is directed by Shoojit Sircar and written by Juhi Chaturvedi. The writer-director duo’s previous collaborations have resulted in acclaimed films like ‘Vicky Donor’, ‘Piku’ and ‘October’. Shoojit and Juhi have earlier worked with Ayushmann Khuranna in ‘Vicky Donor’ and Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Piku’. Both the films were huge hits and had won multiple awards at the National level. Expectations are naturally on the higher side for this film as they bring together the two stars for the first time ever.

Superstar Mohanlal’s hugely hyped directorial debut ‘Barroz’ was supposed to go on floors this coming June but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the makers have been forced to postpone their plans. Apparently, all the major cast members are from foreign countries and it will be impossible to get them all together during this time. So Mohanlal has decided to proceed with a couple of other projects before ‘Barroz’ goes on floors.

‘Barroz’ is an ambitious fantasy film. It is scripted by Jijo Punnoose, the visionary filmmaker who made India’s first 3D film ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’. It is the story of Barroz, a mythical figure who was the gaurdian of Vasco da Gama’s valuable treasures for 400 years. Antony Perumbavoor is producing the film under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

Once the lockdown restrictions are lifted, Mohanlal will be acting in ‘Drishyam 2’. It will be a comparatively smaller as Jeethu Joseph has informed that they are eyeing to wrap up the entire shoot within 60 days.

Vikram’s ‘Cobra’ is a much hyped film that has many big names in the cast and crew. Ajay Gnanamuthu of ‘Demonte Colony’ and ‘Imaikka Nodigal’ is directing the film and 7 Screen Studio is producing it. The makers have informed that they have managed to complete 90 days of shoot before the lockdown was announced. Only 25% of portions are left which the team is hoping to wrap up as soon as the restrictions are lifted. The film is said to be an action-thriller that is to be shot in various countries. Considering the Covid-19 scenario, it remains to be seen how shoot is possible in foreign countries.

‘Cobra’ will have Vikram appearing in multiple looks, which is not a first in his career. The film has an elaborate star cast. ‘KGF’ fame Srinidhi Shetty plays the female lead and former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan is said to be essaying a very crucial role. KS Ravikumar, Roshan Mathew, Miya George, Mammukoya, Sarjano Khalid, Mirnalini Ravi and many others are part of the cast. Academy award winner AR Rahman is composing music for the film. It has already been confirmed that the film will be releasing in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages.

Thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, people across the country have more or less been restricted to their home space. Since no shoot is possible, most filmmakers are busy working on new scripts that they hope to start once the situation gets better. Tamil filmmaker Mysskin has made a startling revelation that he has developed 11 scripts in this two months of lockdown. In the recent interview to TOI, he also added that he has been reading a lot of books and learning to play piano.

After his fallout with actor Vishal during the shoot of ‘Thupparivalan 2’, reports emerged that Mysskin’s next will be with Simbu. When asked about the same, the director said that Simbu had first expressed his wish to collaborate after being impressed by ‘Anjaathey’. More recently, the two met and discussed films. Mysskin has narrated a script to him and he loved it. If things fall in place correctly, they will be teaming up after Simbu finishes his other pending commitments.

There are also reports about Mysskin working with Arun Vijay for a new film. An official word is yet to be out though.

The crew members of upcoming Malayalam film ‘Aadujeevitham’ have returned back to Kochi after getting stuck in Jordan. A special Air India flight, AI 1902, carrying 187 Indian nationals, which includes the 58-member film crew, landed in New Delhi and later in Kochi today morning. It is learnt that all of them will be quarantining in a specially arranged accommodation at Fort Kochi.

Through their Facebook page, the Indian embassy officials from Jordan informed about the return of ‘Aadujeevitham’ crew. Photos taken with actor Prithviraj and director Blessy have also been shared. Ambassador HE Anwar Haleem bid farewell to all the passengers at the airport and wished all of them safe travels and healthy life ahead.

‘Aadujeevitham’ team left for Jordan in March this year. They got stuck there after total lockdown was announced in the country due to the Covid-19 scenario. Shoot had to be stopped halfway and the crew members had to confine themselves to the desert property in which they were staying in Wadi Rum. It was only two weeks back that the authorities granted permission for shoot and they managed to wrap up the remaining portions in quick time.

Malayalam actor Roshan Mathew best known for his roles in ‘Aanandam’, ‘Koode’ and ‘Moothon’ is making his Bollywood debut with the Anurag Kashyap directorial ‘Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai’. The film is set to be released on streaming platform Netflix on June 5. Meanwhile, its trailer has just been shared online.

Roshan and Saiyami Kher play the lead roles in the film. Anurag Kashayp decided to cast Roshan after being impressed by his terrific performance as the speech-impaired gay person in ‘Moothon’. Anurag was associated with the film as he wrote its Hindi dialogues.

‘Choked’ tells the story of a strong-willed middle-class housewife, who finds cash flowing out of her kitchen sink every night, and how this unexpected development changes her life. Nihit Bhave has scripted the film. Saiyami plays 30-year-old Sarita Pillai, a bank cashier and Roshan will be seen as her husband Sushant Pillai, who is a struggling musician. The film explores relationships, the balance between truth, power and money.

So finally the official announcement of ‘Drishyam 2’ has been made. Mohanlal has shared a short intro teaser on his official social media handle. It is the superstar’s 60th birthday today and the announcement has come as a special treat for his and the original film’s fans worldwide. Jeethu Joseph will be directing the film which will see the return of all the major actors from the first part.

‘Drishyam’ was a record-breaking blockbuster during the time of its release in 2013. The film was remade successfully in almost all major Indian languages with top stars like Kamal Haasan, Ajay Devgn and Venkatesh reprising Mohanlal’s role.

As per director Jeethu Joseph, the sequel will continue from exactly from where the first part ended. They are planning to shoot the film in just around 60 days within Kerala. It will be the first film Mohanlal will be working on once the restrictions are lifted by the government. The superstar’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas is producing the film.
