Jeethu Joseph hints about teaming up with Dulquer Salmaan!

Jeethu Joseph recently made heads turn with the surprise announcement of ‘Drishyam 2’. The film will be the continuation of his 2013 mega blockbuster that had Mohanlal in the lead. The director has already started working on the pre-production of the sequel as he plans to start shooting for the film soon after the lockdown restrictions are lifted. Mohanlal will be reprising the lead role of Georgekutty and along with him, all major actors from the first part will be retained.

Meanwhile, Jeethu Joseph has revealed that he has had plans to make a film with young star Dulquer Salmaan. Apparently, the director had a subject in mind and even approached the star, who responded positively. However, Jeethu admits that he could not develop the script properly at that time. He is still hopeful of completing the script and convincing Dulquer.

Dulquer’s next in Malayalam is a cop film with Rosshan Andrrews. He also a project each in Tamil and Telugu lines up. The hugely anticipated ‘Kurup’ will be his next to hit screens.

Manju Warrier croons a song in Jack and Jill

Santhosh Sivan’s comeback film ‘Jack and Jill’ is eagerly awaited by Malayali cinephiles for many reasons. The film has Kalidas Jayaram, Manju Warrier and Soubin Shahir playing the lead roles. Said to be a multi-genre film, it is the first of its kind attempt in Malayalam. It’s a quirky sci-fi film in which Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an integral part. Manju Warrier plays the role of simple woman who is being experimented upon.

Besides playing a challenging character, Manju has also sung a song in the film. Manju has previously sung songs in films like ‘Aaram Thampuran’ and ‘Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu’. She last rendered a track in her 2015 film ‘Jo and the Boy’. The makers of ‘Jack and Jill’ are planning to release the song soon after the lockdown restrictions are lifted.

The cast of ‘Jack and Jill’ also includes Nedumudi Venu, Ramesh Pisharody, Basil Joseph, Shailee Kishan and Suraj Venjaramoodu. A Dubai based company named Lensman Studios is producing the film.

Dulquer Salmaan’s Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal re-released in Dubai

Dulquer Salmaan’s Tamil film ‘Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal’ (KKK) was a surprise hit at the box office. The film directed by debutant Desingh Periyasamy is a heist film that came in the pretext of a rom-com. Releasing amidst low hype, it took everyone by surprise as it had a highly profitable theatrical run. Later, the film got released in Netflix as well.

Interestingly, ‘KKK’ has now been re-released in Dubai. Reel Cinemas is implementing a 30 percent capacity rule along with introducing general health and safety measures. Besides ‘KKK’, hit Malayalam film ‘Forensic’ is also re-releaisng in Dubai.

Meanwhile after the success of ‘KKK’, Dulquer signed his next in Tamil. Titled as ‘Hey Sinamika’, the film marks the directorial debut of popular dance choreographer Brinda. Kajal Aggarwal, Aditi Rao Hydari and Dulquer play the lead roles in the film which is said to be a triangular love story. Shoot for the same had just commenced when the lockdown was announced.

As we already know, Santhosh Sivan is making his comeback to Malayalam after a brief gap with ‘Jack and Jill’. Kalidas Jayaram, Manju Warrier and Soubin Shahir are playing the lead roles in the film. Interestingly, there is one more addition to the team. Actor Prithviraj is also associated with the film. Apparently, the film unfolds with his narration. It is reported that he has already dubbed for his portions. Prithviraj and Santosh Sivan were earlier partners in the production company August Cinemas before the former backed out. They had also worked together in films like ‘Anandabhadram’ and ‘Urumi’.

From what we hear, ‘Jack and Jill’ is not a regular film but a very unique attempt in Malayalam. According to Santhosh Sivan, it’s a multi-genre film. Parvathy busy with scripting and pre-production works of her directorial debut

During these lockdown days, Parvathy has been keeping herself busy with script and pre-production works of her maiden directorial venture. Apart from her own film, she is collaborating with a friend for another project. Parvathy herself revealed this in a recent interview with Firstpost. The actress also opened up about her mental health and how she has been battling depression.

Parvathy’s debut directorial was supposed to begin by the end of this year or early next year, but due to the Covid-19 scenario, things still remain uncertain. She had done lot of research and studies before finally deciding to wear the director’s hat. It is learnt that she has also opted out of three already committed films to concentrate more on her directorial venture.

As revealed by Parvathy earlier, she has zeroed in two subjects – one with a strong political background and the other one, a thriller that explores the psychological space between two people. Both the film demands immense research and Parvathy has been working on it for sometime now. An official announcement regarding the cast and crew is expected to be made soon.

Malayalam film actor Gokulan got married today. He tied the knot with Dhanya at Iravichira Shiva temple in Perumbavoor, Ernakulam. The marriage ceremony was held following all lockdown protocols. Only close family members and friends attended the wedding. Many celebs have been wishing the newly weds through their social media handles.

Gokulan made his acting debut with the Jayaram starrer ‘Kudumbasree Travels’ that got released in 2011. He later did notable roles in films like ‘Amen’, ‘Sapthamasree Thaskaraha’, ‘Pathemari’, ‘Vaarikkuzhiyile Kolapathakam’ etc. Gokulan has been a constant presence in Ranjith Sankar’s films. He was part of the director’s films like ‘Punyalan Agarbathis’, ‘Punyalan Private Limited’, ‘Ramante Edanthottam’ and ‘Kamala’.

Directed by Zakariya, ‘Sudani From Nigeria’ is a tale about compassion and brotherhood told in the backdrop of sevens football in the Malappuram region. The film also several accolades, which includes five at the State level and two at the National level.

As reported by us earlier, Joju George starrer ‘Joseph’ is getting remade in Tamil. M Padmakumar, who directed the original, is helming the Tamil version as well. RK Suresh is reprising the lead role played by Joju George. Multiple National-award winning filmmaker Bala is producing the film, which is yet to be titled.

John Mahendran, the director of Vijay’s much-loved film ‘Sachien’, is also part of the remake of ‘Joseph’. Reportedly, he is adapting the screenplay and penning the dialogues in Tamil. John has similarly worked in remake of films like ‘Delhi Belly’ and ‘Raanjhanaa’. He also wrote the Tamil dialogues for the dubbed version of Mahesh Babu’s hit Telugu film ‘Dookudu’.

According to John Mahendran, shoot of ‘Joseph’ work is almost complete. He recently took to Twitter to share a photo taken with M Padmakumar and heaped praise on the director. His tweet reads,

“M.Padmakumar Sir undoubtedly, one of the finest Directors I worked with. More than my Dialogues, it is the silence that M.Padmakumar uses the best to make his characters speak.”

If not for the Covid-19 pandemic, it would have been a month since the release of Vijay’s ‘Master’. Fans are still eagerly waiting for the film, which is most likely to hit screens only by Diwali in November. Though release is still months away, there is no dip in hype. Cheering up the fans, Rathna Kumar, one of the writers of the film, revealed an exciting bit of info.

According to him, ‘Master’ interval block will be an absolute blast. He also added that there’s a particular dialogue that Vijay says in that sequence which fans will celebrate in theatres. Rathna Kumar hae earlier assured that fans will get to see a different Vijay in the film. Apparently, the attitude of the character Vijay plays in ‘Master’ is very close to how the star behaves as a person. It will be a socially responsible film but without a preachy tone.

‘Master’ is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj of ‘Kaithi’ fame. Vijay plays the part of a college professor named John Durairaj. He is also the Dean of Students Association in an arts and science college. Malavika Mohanan, who is paired with Vijay in the film, also supposedly plays a college professor’s role. Vijay Sethupathi essays the antagonist’s role. Actors like Andrea Jeremiah, Arjun Das, Gouri Kishan, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and Ramya Subramaniam are also part of the supporting cast.

Forensic set for re-release in theatres in Dubai

After close to two months of lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, theatres in Dubai are opening. Malayalam film ‘Forensic’ is re-releasing there from May 27. The makers have shared the list of theatres on their official social media handle.

‘Forensic’ starring Tovino Thomas was having an excellent run at the box office when theatres had to shut down. Earlier this month, the film had its television premier in Asianet. OTT giant Amazon Prime has brought the film’s streaming rights.

‘Forensic’ directed by Akhil Paul and Anas Khan is a crime-investigative thriller centred around a series of abduction and killing of girl children. The film has Tovino essaying the lead role of a medico legal advisor. Mamta Mohandas plays an equally important character of an IPS officer who heads the investigation. Reba Monica John, Renji Panicker, Prathap Pothen, Rony David, Dhanesh Anand, Anwar Shereef, Srikanth Murali, Ginu John and many others are also part of the supporting cast.

‘Forensic’ had grossed around Rs 20 from the worldwide box office before it had to be pulled out from theatres. The film is produced by Navis Xaviour and Siju Mathew under the banner of Juvis Productions and Raju Malliath’s Ragam Movies.
