Renji Panicker replaces Lal in Suresh Gopi’s Kaaval

Suresh Gopi is teaming up with Nithin Renji Panicker of ‘Kasaba’ fame for a mass entertainer titled ‘Kaaval’. Lal was also supposed to play an equally important role in the film. However, due to his prior commitments in other languages, the actor has opted out of ‘Kaaval’. Renji Panicker will be replacing him instead.

‘Kaaval’ scripted by Nithin himself has been planned as an action-packed family drama. The story set in the high ranges of Idukki spans across two different timelines. Both Suresh Gopi and Renji Panciker will be seen in two getups – an older and younger look. Others in the cast include ‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu’ fame Zaya David, Alencier Ley, IM Vijayan, Sujith Shankar, Kichu Tellus, Binu Pappu, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Muthumani and Pathamaraj Ratheesh.

On the technical front, National award winner Nikhil S Praveen, noted for his work in Jayaraj’s highly acclaimed films ‘Bhayanakam’, will be wielding the camera. Music department will be handled by Ranjin Raj of ‘Joseph’ fame.

Joby George of Goodwill Entertainments is producing the film which is scheduled to go on floors this month.

Anwar Rasheed’s highly anticipated film ‘Trance’ is hitting screens on February 14 as a Valentine’s Day special. With hardly a month left for release, the makers have started the first round of promotions. A new poster introducing all the major actors from the cast has just been released online. Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Soubin Shahir, Vinayakan, Chemban Vinod Jose, Dileesh Pothan, Sreenath Bhasi and Jinu Joseph feature in the poster.

Joju George, Arjun Ashokan, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Arushi Mudgal and Aswathi Menon are some of the actors in the film. ‘Trance’ is a highly ambitious project that has been in the making for over two years. Debutant Vincent Vadakkan has scripted the film but as of yet, nothing much is known regarding its genre or plot details.

Cinematographer Amal Neerad, composers Jackson Vijayan and Sushin Shyam, editor Praveen Prabhakar and sound designer Resul Pookutty form the core technical team.

Its Tovino Thomas’ birthday today and as a special treat for his fans, the official teaser of his upcoming film ‘Kilometers and Kilometers’ has been released online. Dulquer Salmaan shared the teaser through his social media handle. Along with the teaser, Dulquer also wished Tovino and the team all success. He has written,

“Wishing my dearest Tovino a very happy birthday and the best wishes for his upcoming movie Kilometers and Kilometers. I am sure the movie will be as much fun as its name. All the best to the team.”

‘Kilometers and Kilometers’ directed by Jeo Baby of ‘2 Penkuttikal’ fame is said to be a travel based fun entertainer. Tovino is also turning a producer with his film as he is backing the project along with Ramshi Ahamed, Anto Joseph, and Sinu Sidharth. According to the star, it is a proper commercial entertainer with a strong content.

The film has a foreign actress named India Jarvis as the female lead. On the technical front, ‘Oru Adaar Love’ DOP Sinu Sidharth has wielded the camera, Rahman Mohammed Ali and Prejish Praksh are jointly handling the edits and Sooraj S Kurup is composing the songs. Sushin Shyam is in charge of the background score.

Forensic teaser coming out on Tovino’s birthday

One of Malayaalam cinema’s leading young stars Tovino Thomas will be celebrating his birthday tomorrow (January 21). As a special treat for his fans, the official teaser of his upcoming film ‘Forensic’ will be out tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM through Prithviraj’s social media handle.

‘Forensic’ is scripted and directed by debutant duo Akhil Paul and Anas Khan. It is the first time that a full-length film about forensic science is being made in Malayalam. Tovino plays a character named Samuel John Kaattookaran. He is a medico legal advisor working in the Kerala police’s forensic science lab.

Mamta Mohandas essays the female lead’s part. She is playing an IPS officer and her character is named as Rithika Xavier IPS. ‘Bigil’ fame Reba Monica John, Saiju Kurup, Giju John, ‘Lilli’ Dhanesh Anand, Anil Murali and many others are part of the supporting cast. DOP Akhil George, music director Jakes Bejoy and editor Shameer Muhammed form the main technical crew.

‘Forensic’ is scheduled to hit screens in March.

After the releasing the first character poster featuring Keerthy Suresh, a new poster has been shared online. Mohanlal, who plays Kunjali Marakkar IV, is seen fighting a white soldier.

‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ is an epic period film based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. Priyadarshan has penned the screenplay jointly with Ani IV Sasi. National award winning cinematographers Tirru and Sabu Cyril are part of the technical team.

Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are jointly producing this mega budget film. The makers have announced that the film will be releasing worldwide in a whopping 5000 theatres on March 26. Besides the original version, Malayalam, the film will also be releasing in 4 other regional languages.

Mohanlal starrer ‘Big Brother’ had hit screens across Kerala on January 16. Going by the general response, it seems like a typical superstar film with all the necessary commercial ingredients in it. Veteran Siddique has directed the film. The makers have released new promo teaser online.

‘Big Brother’ has Mohanlal playing a mysterious character named Sachidhnandan. He has a dark past with drug mafia where he was called Edwin Mosses. This new teaser lasts over two minutes and has glimpses of some interesting sequences. Mohanlal, Anoop Menon and ‘June’ fame Sarjano Khalid play siblings in the film. Debutante Gadha, Honey Rose, Mirna Menon and Satna Titus are the female leads.

Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan, Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Irshad, John Vijay, Tini Tom, Janardhanan, Chemban Vinod Jose and many others are part of the film’s supporting cast. Director Siddique, Jenso Jose, Philipose K Joseph, Manu Maliackal and Vaishak Rajan have jointly produced the film.

Mohan Raja to direct Andhadhun Tamil remake with Prashanth

As reported by us earlier, Sriram Raghavan’s black-comedy thriller ‘Andhadhun’ is getting remade in Tamil with Prashanth in the lead. The actor’s father Thiagarajan had bagged the remake rights officially. The makers had kept the director’s name under the wraps till now. Gautham Vasudev Menon was said to be the front runner but latest developments suggest that Mohan Raja has inked the deal. It is worth mentioning here that 6 out of the 9 films directed by him have been remakes.

‘Andhadhun’ was one of the most acclaimed films in Indian cinema in recent years. The film won several awards at various levels, which includes three at the National level as well. Ayushmann Khuranna’s stellar performance won him the National Award for Best Actor. It also won the award for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Hindi film. Besides the critical acclaim, the movie emerged as a commercial blockbuster as well.

Shoot for Thalapathy Vijay’s new film ‘Master’ is nearing the final stages. Vijay and Malavika Mohanan are currently shooting their portions. Interestingly, the latter has undergone martial arts training for the film. She will be having crucial scenes along with Vijay Sethupathi, who plays the prime antagonist. It is said that Malavika will be performing Parkour and will be seen fighting Vijay Sethupathi in the film.

‘Master’ is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj of ‘Kaithi’ fame. As assured by the makers, it will be completely different from Vijay’s earlier films. Andrea Jeremiah, Arjun Das, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Gouri Kishan, Ramya Subramaniam, Sriman, Ramesh Thilak and many others are part of the supporting cast.

Young sensation Anirudh Ravichander is trusted with the music department and Sathyan Sooryan is in charge of the cinematography. Xavier Britto is producing the film under the banner of XB Pictures. The film is scheduled for release only in April, but it has already locked a pre-release business which itself is worth around Rs 200 crore.

Tovino Thomas currently has some interesting projects lined up in his kitty. ‘Kilometers and Kilometers’, ‘Minnal Murali’ ‘Forensic’, ‘2403 ft’ and ‘Thallumala’ are some of them. In Jude Anthany Joseph’s ambitious film ‘2403 ft’, Tovino plays an ex-soldier who ran away from the military. Interestingly, the star had played an army man last year in ‘Edakkad Battalion 06’.

‘2403 ft’ is based on the devastating Kerala floods. The film is inspired from several real life events that occurred during the floods of 2018. Director Jude has scripted it jointly with John Manthrickal, the co-writer of ‘Ann Maria Kalipilanu’ and ‘Alamara’.

The film went on floors last October with a brief schedule. Tovino has already shot for the film along with Tanvi Ram of ‘Ambili’ fame. There are reports about stars like Kunchacko Boban, Jayasurya, Asif Ali, Indrajith Sukumaran and Manju Warrier also being a part of the film, but the makers are yet to confirm it. Earlier in an interview, Jude had mentioned that popular stars from Tamil cinema will also be part of the film. So we are still waiting for an official announcement regarding the cast. Anto Joseph Film Company is producing this big budget film.
