OTT release date of Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey out

One of Malayalam cinema’s biggest box office hits of the year, Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey is all set for OTT release. It has been announced that the film will stream on Disney + Hotstar from December 22. Starring Basil Joseph and Darshana Rajendran as the leads, the film was a huge success raking in over Rs 40 crores from its worldwide gross.

‘Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey’ is written and directed by Vipin Das of ‘Mudhugauv’ and ‘Antakshari’ fame. The film has Darshana and Basil as newlyweds, and the story revolves around them. Basil plays a character named Rajesh and Darshana essays the titular role of Jaya. It addresses a relevant issue of domestic abuse in a fun and entertaining manner.

‘Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey’ also starred Aju Varghese, Azeez Nedumangad, Sudheer Paravoor, Kudassanad Kanakam, Anand Manmadhan and Manju Pillai. Apart from the glowing critic reviews, the film was lapped up by the family audience, who thronged theatres in large numbers.

2018 teaser looks super ambitious and promising

Director Jude Anthany Joseph’s film based on the Kerala floods is gearing up to hit screens. Titled ‘2018’, the film has a stellar star cast comprising Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Asif Ali, Aparna Balamurali, Kalaiyarasan, Tanvi Ram, Sshivada, Narain, Lal, Aji Varghese, Indrans and Gauthami Nair. Last day, the makers had a grand teaser launch event in Kochi. Megastar Mammootty was the chief guest at the event.

The teaser of ‘2018’ looks like a highly promising documentation of the devastating floods. The massive efforts put in by the makers is evident from the teaser. It looks like a hyperlink narrative that follows how people from various sectors were affected by the floods and how the spirit of humanity eventually won.

Jude has co-scripted the film with Akhil P Dharmajan. On the technical front, Akhil George cranks the camera and music is by Nobin Paul. Edits are handled by Chaman Chacko. ‘2018’ is jointly produced by Anto Joseph, Venu Kunnappilly and CK Padmakumar. The makers are expected to announce the release date soon.

Rajinikanth is stylish as ever in Jailer teaser

Recently, on Rajinikanth’s birthday (December 12), the makers of his upcoming film ‘Jailer’ released the teaser. The film has the superstar playing a character named Muthuvel Pandian. In the teaser, he looks super stylish in a salt and pepper get up. Written and directed by Nelson, the film reportedly has Rajinikanth playing a jailer’s role. Much of the film is said to be set within a jail. There are unconfirmed reports about the film being a prison-break thriller.

Malayalam actor Vinayakan is reportedly playing the main villain’s role. Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar is essaying a brief cameo role. Others in the cast include Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi and Yogi Babu. The film Nelson’s frequent collaborator Anirudh Ravichander as the music director. Cinematography is by Vijay Kartik Kannan and edits are done by Nirmal.

On Rajinikanth’s birthday, all the actors and technicians of ‘Jailer’ came together to wish the superstar in a special video released by the makers, Sun Pictures.

Vishal’s new film ‘Laththi’ is set to hit screens for Christmas on December 22. Last day, the makers released its trailer, from which we learn that Vishal plays a police constable’s role. Written and directed by debutant A Vinoth Kumar, ‘Laththi’ promises to be an action heavy film.

The trailer is action-packed as it shows Vishal fighting several goons in a building, which is under construction. As per reports, the film is about a police constable, who gets trapped in a building with his 10-year-old kid, and how they escape from the building surrounded by a group of enemies.

Though Vishal has done cop roles before, ‘Laththi’ promises to be something different. Peter Hein has choreographed the stunts in the film. In an earlier interview, Vishal had said that ‘Laththi’ was an experience of a lifetime with Peter Hein.

Sunainaa plays the female lead’s role in the film, which has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Prabhu, Munishkanth, Malayalam actor Sunny and many others are part of the cast. The film is slated to release in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.

We had earlier reported about Vineeth Sreenivasan and Biju Menon teaming up for ‘Thankam’, to be directed by Saheed Arafath of ‘Theeram’ fame. As the film gears up for release early next year, the makers have begun the promotions. They kick-started it by releasing the first look. It features Biju Menon, Vineeth Sreenivasan and Aparna Balamurali.

The film scripted by Syam Pushkaran was originally announced with Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan and Joju George as the leads. However, the delay caused due to the pandemic has resulted in a few changes in the cast.

As confirmed by the makers, ‘Thankam’ is a crime drama. Syam Pushkaran, Dileesh Pothan and Fahadh Faasil are also involved in the production of ‘Thankam’. They are jointly producing it under their banners of Working Class Hero and Fahadh Faasil and Friends. They have previously produced ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ and ‘Joji’. According to them, ‘Thankam’ is the biggest film to come out of their banners.

‘Thankam’ has Gautham Sankar as the cinematographer, Bijibal as the music director anr Kiran Das as the editor.

As announced by the makers of ‘Pathaan’, the first single from the film dropped on Monday. Titled ‘Besharam Rang’, the song is composed by Vishal and Sheykhar. Shilpa Rao, Caralisa Monteiro, Vishal and Sheykhar have sung the track. While the Hindi lyrics is penned by Kumaar, Vishal Dadlani has written the Spanish verses. The video features a smoking hot Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan. The latter is even seen flaunting his eight packs in the song.

‘Pathaan’ is directed by Siddharth Anand, who has previously made films like ‘War’ and ‘Bang Bang’. Like the director’s previous films ‘Pathaan’ also promises to be an action spectacle with high octane chases and plenty of action set pieces. While John Abraham essays the villain role, Deepika will also be seen in an action avatar in the teaser.

Shot in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Spain, and other foreign countries, ‘Pathaan’ reportedly has Shah Rukh’s character as a spy. Unconfirmed reports also suggest that the film will also have cameos from Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan as part of expanding YRF’s spy universe. Salman will be appearing as Tiger while Hrithik will be reprising his character Kabir from ‘War’.

‘Pathaan’ is slated to hit screens worldwide on January 25, 2023. Besides Hindi, the film will also be releasing in Tamil and Telugu.

The Khalid Rahman directorial ‘Love’ has been remade in Tamil under the same title. While Shine Tom Chacko and Rajisha Vijayan played the leads in the original, the Tamil version stars Bharath and Vani Bhojan. Interestingly, it is also Bharath’s 50th film. RP Bala is directing the film, teaser for which got released recently. From the teaser, it looks like a scene by scene, faithful remake.

Vivek Prasanna, Radha Ravi, Danial Annie Pope, Swayam Siddha, and Adams also star in the film. It has music scored by Ronnie Raphael, and cinematography by PG Muthaiah. Ajay Manoj is handling the edits. The film’s director RP Bala is also producing it along with his wife Kousalya Bala.

The Malayalam version of ‘Love’ was a psychological thriller. It’s about the troubled marriage of two unhappy people leading to a series of disastrous events due to several unforeseen circumstances. Though the film didn’t fare commercially well, it won critical praise from many. It’s currently streaming on Netflix.

The makers of the Tamil version are yet to announce the release date.

We had earlier reported about Simbu singing for Vijay in his upcoming film ‘Varisu’. The song ‘Thee Thalapathy’ was released recently. Conceived as a tribute song for Vijay, it features Simbu along with dance choreographer Sandy rocking the floors with their sizzling moves. Lyricist Vivek and composer SS Thaman make an appearance, with a glimpse of Vijay also in the end. Within 3 days of its release, the song has fetched a whopping 16 million views in YouTube.

‘Thee Thalapathy’ comes right after the sensational success of the first single ‘Ranjithame’. Sung by Vijay and MM Manasi, that song is already a chartbuster with 85 million views in just a month’s time.

‘Varisu’ directed by Vamshi Paidipally is gearing up for a grand Pongal release in January, 2023. The film, produced by Dil Raju and Sirish’s Sri Venkateswara Creations and PVP Cinema, will also be releasing in Telugu as ‘Vaarasudu’. Touted to be a family-based mass entertainer, the film is penned by Hari and Ahishor Solomon. Rashmika Mandanna, Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Khusboo, Sangeetha, Shaam and Jayasudha also star in it.

Last day, we had reported about ‘Ariyippu’ releasing directly on Netflix. The film is set for its premiere on December 16. Prior to that, the makers have released a trailer. The 2.28-minute trailer follows lead actors Kunchacko Boban and Divyaprabha, who play a married couple working in a gloves manufacturing factory in North India. The story is about how a scandalous video affects their life.

Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, the film promises to be a gripping drama set during the pandemic. ‘Ariyippu’ has already had a successful run at various international film festivals. It had its world premiere at the 75th Locarna International Film Festival in August. It was also screened at the 66th edition of the British Film Institute, London and the Busan International Film Festival. More recently, the film had its Indian premiere at IFFI, Goa. Next, it has been picked in the competition section of the upcoming IFFK.

Kunchacko is also producing ‘Ariyippu’ along with Mahesh Narayanan’s Moving Narratives and Shebin Backer.
