Ramya Krishnan joins Rajinikanth’s in Jailer

We had earlier reported about Rajinikanth teaming up with director Nelson for his next. Titled ‘Jailer’, the film is produced by Sun Pictures. It is reported that Ramy Krishnan has joined the film’s cast. The actress revealed the same in a recent interview. The Ramya Krishnan-Rajinikanth combo is best known for locking horns in the all-time blockbuster, ‘Padayappa’. It will be interesting to see them together after all these years.

‘Jailer’ promises to be an action-packed mass entertainer in which Rajinikanth reportedly plays the role of a jailer. Kannada star Shiva Rajkumar has been signed to play a prominent role in the film. If rumours are to be believed, he essays the role of a gangster in it. The makers are expected to reveal other cast details soon.

‘Jailer’ has Nelson’s frequent collaborator Anirudh Ravichander as the music director. Vijay Kartik Kannan is the cinematographer and edits will be done by Nirmal.

After the widely acclaimed ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ (TGIK), Jeo Baby is next helming a film titled ‘Sree Dhanya Catering Service’. The film has Prashanth Murali playing the lead role. He has previously done noticeable role in films like ‘Jana Gana Mana’, ‘Swathandhryam Ardharathriyil’, ‘Janamaithiri’, ‘Angamaly Diaries’ etc. Besides directing, Jeo Baby is also acting in the film.

Last day, the makers of ‘Sree Dhanya Catering Service’ released the first single from the film. The fun track titled ‘Mind il Pint Ithu’ features a bunch of drunk men dancing and having fun. Basil CJ has composed the song and lyrics is penned by Suhail Koya. Sannidhanandan has sung the track.

For ‘Sree Dhanya Catering Service’, Jeo Baby has retained almost the same technical team from ‘TGIK’. Salu K Thomas is the cinematographer and Francies Louis is handling the edits. The film is produced by Dijo Augustine, Jomon Jacob, Vishnu Rajan, Sajin S Raj who produced ‘TGIK’ as well.

We had recently reported about the much-awaited Pa Ranjith directorial ‘Natchathiram Nagargiradhu’ locking its release date as August 31. Ahead of the release, the makers have shared the first song video. The track ‘Rangarattinam’ is set to tunes by Tenma and written by Arivu. MS Krsna, Gana Muthu, Sangita Santhosham, Kavitha Gopi and Karthik Manickavasakam have crooned the song.

‘Natchathiram Nagargiradhu’ stars ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’ fame Dushara, Kalaiyarasan and Kalidas Jayaram as the leads. Harikrishnan and ‘Dancing Rose’ Shabeer Kallarakkal are also essaying prominent roles in the film. Reportedly, the film is set in the backdrop of Tamil theater scene. It explores multiple facets of love, including straight and LGBTQ romances.

Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions and Yaazhi Films are jointly producing the film. The director is set to team up with Vikram next for a period film, which will begin production shortly. Ranjith is also in talks with Kamal Haasan for a Madurai-based film.

Sai Pallavi’s Gargi gets its OTT release date

Sai Pallavi’s recently released film ‘Gargi’ is set to be out on Sony Liv on August 12. The streamer has officially announced the premiere date. Directed by Gautham Ramachandran, the film got rave reviews when it hit screens on July 15.

‘Gargi’ is a hard-hitting drama in which Sai Pallavi plays the titular role of a middle class school teacher. The film deals with a topic that needs to be spoken about — child abuse. A victim of child abuse herself, Gargi finds her father being accused of the same. How she fights for him while unraveling a shocking reality is what the film is about. Sai Pallavi’s performance along with the sensitivity shown by the makers in handling such a subject got widespread appreciation.

‘Gargi’ stars Kaali Venkat, Saravanan and Kalesh Ramanand in prominent roles. Malayalam actress Aishwarya Lekshmi, who turned a producer with ‘Gargi’, essayed a cameo role. She backing the film along with director Gautham, Ravichandran Ramachandran and Thomas George.

Aima Rosmy Sebastian and Mahima Nambiar join RDX cast

As reported recently, Antony Varghese, Neeraj Madhav and Shane Nigam are teaming up for a new film titled ‘RDX’. Touted to be an action-packed entertainer, the film is produced by Sophia Paul of Weekend Blockbusters. Debutant Nahas Hidhayth will be directing ‘RDX’ and it is scripted by Shabas Rasheed and Adarsh Sukumaran.

Aima Rosmy Sebastian and Mahima Nambiar have been signed as the female leads in ‘RDX’. While the former was last seen in a full-fledged role in ‘Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol’, Mahima is a busy actress in Tamil. This year alone, she has had two releases so far — Ayngaran and Oh My Dog.

‘RDX’ is said to be a thriller set in Kochi. The film will be high on action and the makers have got popular stunt choreographer duo AnbAriv on board. They are known for their work in the ‘KGF’ films, ‘Kaithi’ and ‘Vikram’. ‘RDX’ marks their Malayalam debut. The technical crew also includes composer Sam CS and cinematographer Alex J Pulickal.

Vikram Vedha teaser to be out along with Laal Singh Chaddha

It is reported that the teaser of ‘Vikram Vedha’ will be attached along with Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, which is set to hit worldwide on August 11. It is also speculated that the trailer is likely to be out on August 31 on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

‘Vikram Vedha’, which is the official remake of the Tamil film of the same name, stars Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan as the leads. Pushkar-Gayathri duo, who helmed the original, is directing the remake version as well. Saif Ali Khan reprises the police officer’s role done by Madhavan, Hrithik plays the role of a gangster, which was essayed by Vijay Sethupathi in the original.

The Hindi adaptation has been planned on a much bigger scale with the makers tweaking the script to suit the sensiblities of the Hindi audience. Radhika Apte and also plays a prominent role as Saif Ali Khan’s wife. Rohit Saraf, Yogita Bihani and Sharib Hashmi are also part of the cast.

As announced earlier, ‘Vikram Vedha’ will be hitting screens on September 30, 2022.

New release date announced for Vikram’s Cobra

It was earlier announced that Vikram’s ‘Cobra’ will be hitting the screens on August 11. However, the makers have now postponed the release to August 31. Directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu of ‘Imaikka Nodigal’ fame, ‘Cobra’ is a big budget mass entertainer shot across various countries.

The film will have Vikram appearing in multiple looks. It also has a huge star cast comprising of actors from various languages. Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan is making his acting debut with this film. He essays the role of a French Interpol officer named Aslan Yilmaz. ‘KGF’ fame Srinidhi Shetty is the female lead. KS Ravikumar, Roshan Mathew, Miya George, Mammukoya, Sarjano Khalid, Manikandan Achari, Mirnalini Ravi and many others are part of the cast.

‘Cobra’, which has music by AR Rahman, is produced by Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studios.

We had earlier reported about Bollywood star John Abraham’s JA Entertainment is backing a new Malayalam film titled ‘Mike’. It has ‘Thanneermathan Dhinangal’ fame Anaswara Rajan and debutant Ranjith Sajeev as the leads. Vishnu Sivaprasad is directing the film.

Its makers have released the first song video online. Hesham Abdul Wahab has composed the song, ‘Ladki’. It has vocals by Sithara Krishnakumar and lyrics by Suhail Koya. The film has Anaswara playing Sara Thomas, who wants to undergo a sex reassignment surgery.

Scripted by Aashiq Akbar Ali, ‘Mike’ promises to a youthful entertainer with a progressive message in it. On the technical front, National award-winner Vivek Harshan is handling the edits and cinematography is by Renadive, who has cranked the camera for films like ‘Comrade in America’, ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ and ‘Shylock’.

‘Mike’ is set for release on August 19.

Fahadh Faasil to replace Puneeth Rajkumar in an upcoming multilingual

If reports are to be believed, Fahadh Faasil is set to team up with Hombale Films for Pawan Kumar’s next, ‘Dvitva’. The project was initially announced with Puneeth Rajkumar and Trisha. However, it had to be shelved due to the unfortunate demise of Puneeth. The makers are now planning to revive the project with Fahadh replacing Puneeth. An official confirmation regarding the same is awaited.

Pawan Kumar is known for his acclaimed films like ‘Lucia’ and ‘U Turn’. He also co-directed the Netflix dystopian drama web series, ‘Leila’. ‘Dvitva’ is an ambitious project that the director has been planning for long. As per reports, his initial plan was to make the film in Kannada with Puneeth and do it in Tamil and Malayalam with Fahadh. With the passing away of Puneeth, it is expected that Fahadh will headline the film in all its versions.

Mammootty to star in cinematographer Roby Varghese Raj’s directorial debut!

Mammootty, who is known for teaming up with many first-time filmmakers, is likely to launch another debutant. As per reports, the megastar has given his nod for cinematographer Roby Varghese Raj’s directorial debut.

Interestingly, the latter’s first two films as cinematographer ‘Puthiya Niyamam’ and ‘The Great Father’ had Mammootty as the lead. Reports about Roby turning a filmmaker with a Mammootty starrer have been doing the rounds for sometime, but it seems like things are getting confirmed only now.

Reportedly, Roby is planning a thriller in which Mammootty will be seen as a cop. More details regarding the project are awaited. Mammootty’s own production house Mammootty Kampany will be producing the film. It is third production venture after Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakam’ and Nisam Basheer’s ‘Rorschach’.

Interestingly, Mammootty is currently playing another cop role in B Unnikrishnan’s film. This yet-to-be titled film, scripted by Udhayakrishna, is billed as a thriller based on real events. Sneha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Amala Paul and Vinay Rai also star in the film.
