Fahadh Faasil to star in KGF makers’ next

Fahadh Faasil is set to team up with Hombale Films, the banner that produced the blockbuster ‘KGF’ films. As per trustworthy reports, Fahadh has been signed by the banner to star in filmmaker Pawan Kumar’s next, ‘Dvitva’. The project was initially announced with Puneeth Rajkumar and Trisha. However, it got shelved due to the unfortunate demise of Puneeth. The makers are now planning to revive the project with Fahadh replacing Puneeth. An official confirmation regarding the same is awaited.

Last day, on Fahadh’s 40th birthday, Hombale Films hinted about a possible collaboration through their tweet, which reads,

To the person who mines distinctive characters from his surroundings n make us fall in awe with his gripping acting. An entertainer par excellence, To the King of ‘method acting’ a very Happy B’day! It’s time to vanish into a new character!!!

Hombale Films is currently backing big-ticket films like Prabhas’ Salaar, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Tyson and director Sudha Kongara’s untitled project.

Sarath Kumar plays Vijay’s father in Varisu

Sarath Kumar and Vijay are acting together for the first time in Vamshi Paidipally’s ‘Varisu’. The veteran recently revealed that he is playing the role of Vijay’s father in the film. Shaam will be seen as Vijay’s brother in the film, which is a family-based mass entertainer. While Rashmika Mandanna plays the female lead, actors like Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Khusboo, Sangeetha and Jayasudha are also part of the cast.

Director Vamshi has scripted ‘Varisu’ along with Hari and Ahishor Solomon. The film produced by Dil Raju and Sirish under Sri Venkateswara Creations has been confirmed as a Pongal, 2023 release. It will also be releasing in Telugu as ‘Vaarasudu’.

Meanwhile, Sarath Kumar has multiple other projects coming up. He is part of ‘Rudran’ with Raghava Lawrence, the Mani Ratnam biggie ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ and Karthick Naren’s ‘Nirangal Moondru’. He is also joining hands with Malayalam filmmaker Madhav Ramadasan for a film titled ‘Aazhi’.

Shoot resumes for Dileep’s Voice of Sathyanathan

It was earlier reported that Dileep is teaming up with director Raffi for a film titled ‘Voice of Sathyanathan’. Though its shoot commenced last October, the makers put it on hold for quite a while. They have now resumed shoot in Mumbai. Dileep is currently shooting for his portions there.

‘Voice of Sathyanathan’ marks the actor’s reunion with director Raffi after a long gap. Raffi along with his former filmmaking partner Mecartin had worked with Dilieep in hit films like ‘Punjabi House’, ‘Thenkasipattanam’, ‘Pandippada’ and ‘China Town’. Raffi also made his independent directorial debut with the Dileep starrer ‘Ring Master’.

‘Voice of Sathyanathan’, scripted by Raffi, has ‘Kettyolaan Ente Malakha’ fame Veena Nandakumar as the female lead. The film also stars Joju George, Siddique, and Johny Antony in major roles. It has Jithin Stansilaus as the cinematographer and ‘Joji’ fame Justin Varghese as the music director. Shameer Muhammed is the editor.

Dilieep, Badusha NM, Prijin JP and Shinoy Mathew are jointly producing the film.

Malayankunju all set for OTT release

Fahadh Faasil’s ‘Malayankunju’ is gearing up for its OTT premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 11. Hitting screens on July 22, the film won positive reviews and emerged as a decent success at the box office.

Directed by debutant Sajimon, it is a coming-of-age film that also has a survival drama angle to it. Fahadh plays Anikuttan, an electronics mechanic. Following his father’s suicide and sister eloping with an oppressed caste guy, Anikuttan has anger issues and becomes blatantly casteist. His transformation happens after he gets trapped in a landslide.

‘Malayankunju’ is scripted by Mahesh Narayanan, who had directed Fahadh in ‘Take Off’, ‘Malik’ and ‘CU Soon’, has scripted the film. He has also debuted as a cinematographer with this film. It also marks AR Rahman’s comeback after 30 years. It is his third Malayalam film after ‘Yodha’, and the yet-to-be-released ‘Aadujeevitham’.

Thiruchitrambalam trailer is fun and promising

The trailer of Dhanush’s ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ has been released. Directed by Mithran Jawahar, with whom Dhanush has earlier worked in ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’, ‘Kutty’ and ‘Uthamaputhiran’, the film promises to a wholesome entertainer. The trailer is fun and has shades of Dhanush’s blockbuster film, ‘VIP’.

‘Thiruchitrambalam’ has three female leads — Nithya Menen, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Raashi Khanna. Nithya plays Dhanush’s neighbour in the film and Raashi Khanna is his schoolmate. Bharathiraja essays the role of his grandfather and Prakash Raj, the father.

Dhanush and composer Anirudh are reuniting after a gap of 7 long years with ‘Thiruchitrambalam’. The duo has has previously worked in blockbuster albums like ‘3’, ‘VIP’, ‘Maari’ and ‘Thanga Magan’. Expectations are naturally high on their reunion.

The film has Om Prakash as the cinematographer and Prasanna GK as the editor. Produced by Sun Pictures, it is scheduled to hit screens on August 18.

Yentharu: Here’s a lovely romantic song from Oru Thekkan Thallu Case

The first single from ‘Oru Thekkan Thallu Case’ has been released its makers. The song titled ‘Yentharu’ is composed by Justin Varghese. Sung by Justin and Himna Hilari, the song has its lyrics penned by Anwar Ali. It is a romantic track featuring Roshan Mathew and Nimisha Sajayan.

‘Oru Thekkan Thallu Case’ also stars Biju Menon and Padmapriya as the leads. Debutant Sreejith N is directing the film, which is an adaptation of GR Indugopan’s popular story ‘Amminipilla Vettu Case’. Rajesh Pinnadan has penned the screenplay.

On the technical front, the makers have got veteran Madhu Neelakandan as the cinematographer and Manoj Kannoth as the editor. The film, produced by Mukesh R Mehta and CV Sarathi under the banner of E4 Entertainment, has been confirmed as an Onam release.

Kunchacko Boban’s next, ‘Nna Thaan Case Kodu’ with Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval of ‘Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25’ is all set screens on August 11. Ahead of the release, the makers have released the trailer. It is a highly promising trailer which gives a clear idea about the film. It looks like a satirical courtroom drama with Kunchacko Boban’s character, a thief, filing a case against the State’s Minister.

Tamil actress Gayathrie Shankar of ‘Super Deluxe’ fame is making her Malayalam debut with this film. Rajesh Madhavan, Basil Joseph, Unnimaya Prasad and a host of other newcomers are part of the cast.

The Abrid Shine directorial ‘Mahaveeryar’ continues to get praise for being a daring experiment. Recently, Tamil filmmaker Mari Selvaraj, known for helming acclaimed films like ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ and ‘Karnan’, tweeted in praise of the Nivin Pauly starrer.

According to him, ‘Mahaveeryar’ is a fascinating satire that makes statements about society, justice, the way it consorts with power and the injustices unleashed on the oppressed, especially women. He also showered his best wishes to the team.

‘Mahaveeryar’ is a genre-bending attempt scripted by Abrid Shine based on a. story by Sahitya Akademi Award winner M Mukundan. The film also stars Asif Ali, Lal, Siddique, Shanvi Srivastava, Lalu Alex, Major Ravi, Sudheer Karamana, Mallika Sukumaran, Prajod Kalabhavan, Srikanth Murali and Padmaraj Ratheesh.

Shoot for Mohanlal’s Ram resumes after 3 years

Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph were working on ‘Ram’, a big-budget film, before the pandemic situation worsened. The team had to stall the film’s shoot at the halfway stage as the remaining portions had to be shot abroad, which was not possible then due to the travel restrictions. After 3 years, the makers have finally resumed shoot. Jeethu took to his social media handle to share the same.

As per the makers, ‘Ram’ is an action-based entertainer in which Mohanlal plays the titular role. After wrapping up a brief schedule in Kochi, the team will be travelling to Europe for filming the remaining portions.

‘Ram’ has Trisha as the female lead. She is said to be playing the role of a doctor in the film. Bollywood actor Adil Hussain, Indrajith Sukumaran, Durga Krishna and Leona Lishoy are also part of the film.

Ramesh R Pillai and Sudhan S Pillai are jointly producing it under the banner of Abhishek Films. Satheesh Kurup is the DOP and music is by Vishnu Shyam. Vinayak VS is handling the edits.

Antony Varghese, Neeraj Madhav and Shane Nigam team up for RDX

Antony Varghese, Neeraj Madhav and Shane Nigam will be seen as the leads in an upcoming film titled ‘RDX’. Touted to be an action-packed entertainer, the film is produced by Sophia Paul of Weekend Blockbusters. The banner last produced Tovino Thomas’ superhero film ‘Minnal Murali’.

Debutant Nahas Hidhayth will be directing ‘RDX’ and it is scripted by Shabas Rasheed and Adarsh Sukumaran. The film’s title is derived from the first letters of the lead actors’ character names – Robert, Dony, Xavier. Set in Kochi, the film will be high on action and the makers have got popular stunt choreographer duo AnbAriv on board. They are known for their work in the ‘KGF’ films, ‘Kaithi’ and ‘Vikram’. ‘RDX’ marks their Malayalam debut.

The film’s technical crew also includes composer Sam CS and cinematographer Alex J Pulickal.
