Kunchacko Boban’s Ottu postponed yet again

Kunchacko Boban’s Malayalam-Telugu bilingual film Ottu/Rendagam was supposed to hit screens this Friday. But it has now been postponed due to the censor issues of the Tamil version. Since the makers are keen to release both versions on the same day, they have decided to push the release to a later date which will be announced soon. The film has been in the making for some time now and has seen multiple delays already.

Director TP Fellini took to his Facebook handle to inform about the latest postponing. He has written,

We are extremely sorry to inform you that the worldwide release date of Ottu has been postponed from September 2. We had to take this decision due to some unforeseen circumstances regarding our Tamil release. Meanwhile Malayalam censor is done and we have been certified U/A. Since it is a bilingual movie, have to release this movie on the same date.

This has been a long journey and we as a team, have given our blood and sweat to this project. It is made on a huge scale ,keeping the audience across India in mind and hence, we are leaving no stone unturned for its release. We hope to ENTERTAIN you guys soon on the same day, Worldwide!..Need your support and blessings…

‘Saturday Night’, the new film from the ‘Kayamkulam Kochunni’ combo of Nivin Pauly and director Rosshan Andrrews is gearing up for release. After the teaser release, the makers have shared a new poster featuring all the main actors in the film. The characters are all dressed in hip and Bohemian style in the poster. Sharing the poster in his social media handle, Nivin, who plays the lead role of Stanley, wrote,

‘Saturday Night’ is scripted by Naveen Bhaskar of ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’ fame. According to the makers, it is a beautiful tale of friendship, love, and laughter. Recently, a teaser featuring Nivin, Aju Varghese and Saiju Kurup, Siju Wilson and Grace Antony was released by the makers. It gives hints of a friendship drama with Nivin, Aju, Siju and Saiju playing close buddies. It shows Siju getting married to Grace Antony’s character against his wish, which kind of creates a rift in their friendship. Malavika Sreenath, who played a brief role in ‘Madhuram’, and Saniya Iyappan are also essaying major roles in the film.

‘Saturday Night’ has Aslam K Purayil as the DOP and Jakes Bejoy as the music director. Vinayaka Ajith is producing the film under the banner of Ajith Vinayaka Films.

Basil Joseph to star in Unda writer Harshad’s next

Basil Joseph has been signed as lead in a new film directed by debutant Muhashin. It is scripted by Harshad, who made his debut with the Mammootty starrer ‘Unda’. He also co-scripted the megastar’s recent film ‘Puzhu’.

The upcoming Basil Joseph film is set in Kozhikode. Recently, the team had released a casting call looking for actors who can speak in the Kozhikode dialect. The film is produced by Naisam Salam Productions. More details regarding the project are awaited.

Basil Joseph is currently awaiting the release of ‘Palthu Janwar’, which is set to hit screens on September 2. Directed by newcomer Sangeeth P Rajan, the film has Basil essaying the role of a livestock inspector. It is produced jointly by Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan and Syam Pushkaran.

The first look features Vishal in a bearded look firing bullets. The backdrop also suggests a period setting.

Mark Antony’ stars SJ Suryah in a prominent role. RituVarma is the female lead. Produced by Mini Studio Vinod Kumar, the film has music scored by GV Prakash and cinematography by Abinandhan Ramanujam.

It shows Siju getting married to Grace Antony’s character against his wish and he seems to be irked that his friends didn’t stand by him. The teaser ends with Nivin’s character Stanely walking out suggesting a rift in their friendship.

Oru Thekkan Thallu Case trailer is riveting

The trailer of ‘Oru Thekkan Thallu Case’ has been released by its makers. It is 2-minute-long riveting trailer that introduces to us the main characters and their conflicts. Biju Menon, Padmapriya, Nimisha Sajayan and Roshan Mathew play the lead roles. The film seems to be centered around the rift between the characters played by Biju Menon and Roshan Mathew. The trailer has glimpses of some thrilling action scenes.

Debutant Sreejith N is directing ‘Oru Thekkan Thallu Case’, which is an adaptation of GR Indugopan’s popular story ‘Amminipilla Vettu Case’. Rajesh Pinnadan has penned the screenplay. On the technical front, the makers have got veteran Madhu Neelakandan as the cinematographer and Manoj Kannoth as the editor. Justin Varghese is handling the music department.

The film, produced by Mukesh R Mehta and CV Sarathi under the banner of E4 Entertainment, has been confirmed as an Onam release. The makers are expected to announce the exact release date soon.

Mohanlal signs a multilingual project titled Vrushabha

Superstar Mohanlal has signed a multilingual project titled ‘Vrushabha’. The film will be directed by Kannada filmmaker Nanda Kishore, who has also directed films such as ‘Victory’, ‘Adyaksha’, ‘Mukunda Murari’, ‘Tiger’, and ‘Pogaru’. AVS Studios and First Step Movies are jointly producing the film, which is planned to go on floors in May 2023 and eyes an early 2024 release.

According to the makers, ‘Vrushabha’ is a family drama laced with action and emotions involving a father and a son. A leading actor from Telugu cinema will be cast as Mohanlal’s son in the film. It will be filmed in Malayalam and Telugu, and later dubbed and released in Tamil, Kannada and Hindi.

Mohanlal meanwhile has Shaji Kailas’ ‘Alone’ and Vysakh’s ‘Monster’ gearing up for release. His directorial debut ‘Barroz’, Jeethu Joseph’s ‘Ram’ and the Netflix film ‘Olavum Theeravum’ are some of his other projects in different stages of production.

Prithviraj-Alphonse Puthren film Gold does extraordinary pre-release business

Alphonse Puthren’s ‘Gold’ is gearing up for Onam release. Expectations are high on the film as the director is making a comeback seven years after the sensational success of ‘Premam’. The fact that Prithviraj also delivering two huge hits in ‘Jana Gana Mana’ has heightened the hype on ‘Gold’. As claimed by the makers, the film is doing record pre-release business.

Besides Malayalam, ‘Gold’ be releasing in Tamil as well. Subbiah Shanmugham, who has distributed films like ‘Valimai’ and ‘Maanaadu’, is presenting the film in Tamil Nadu. His SSI Production will be releasing it in Tamil and Malayalam. The overseas rights have been bagged by Truth Global Films.

Some other popular actors will be seen in guest roles in the film.

‘Gold’ is produced by Supriya Menon’s Prithviraj Productions and Listin Stephen of Magic Frames.
