Will Pranav Mohanlal be on the silver screen in 2015..?

Mohanlal, the name is enough for Keralites. Yes, he is the most loved son of Malayalees and without no doubt we can the best actor India has ever seen. So when it comes to the matter of his son Pranav, Malayalees are eager to see him on the screen and many of them hoping that Pranav will create magic on the screen like his father. When Mega star Mammootty’s son Dulquer Salmaan came to Mollywood as an actor he got a great welcome from the fans of Mammootty and common malayalees alike. He is now fairly a good crowd puller owing to the fan power of his Father and the ones he created with his films.

When it comes to Mohanlal, He is the star with most number of fans in kerala. In star value and popularity there is no one near him as trade guides says. So if Pranav comes onto the world of acting and to Mollywood he will have great opportunity to become a star and if he able to show his talents, with the ultra -fan of his father, he can become one of the biggest crowd puller of Mollywood like his father. But the thing is that Pranav is not yet said yes to any directors who approached him with the offer to act in their films. He had decided to go the other way and wants to work behind the camera. He was the assistant director of Jeethu Joseph in Paapanaasham which was the tamil remake of Malayalam Blockbuster Drishyam. He is currently assisting Jeethu in Malayalam film Life of Josootty starring Dileep.

When Mohanlal was asked about this, he said that it was pranav’s decision and he will decide what to do with life and Mohanlal said that only Pranav’s decision is going to matter and he won’t be forced to do anything out of his interest.Pranav has acted as a child artist in Major ravi’s film Punarjani and won the state award for best child actor for his performance. He has also seen in one shot of Sagar Slias Jacky directed by Amal Neerad and also in Thambi Kannanthanam ‘s film Onnaman.Later he went for his studies in Australia and later travelled around the world and went for Himalayan exploration etc for a part of his research and travelling is a passion for him.

Kamal hasan told that Pranav had a bright future in direction while he was working for Papanaasham. Any way Many young directors of Mollywood is waiting with stories suited for pranav and eagerly waiting to hear “Yes” from Pranav Mohanlal.

Earth-Shattering opening for Shankar’s ‘I’

Vikram-Amy Jackson starrer much awaited Shanker movie I got released worldwide today and it hit above 20000 screens worldwide. In Kerala it hit 200 screens and as per reports from the trade guides of the industry all the shows till now is houseful everywhere and had an earth-Shattering opening. Eventhough it is not confirmed, reports also says that the film had set the record of highest opening day collections ever in Indian film industry.

The film is dealing with love and revenge and Vikram had three getups in this film. He had acted as Lingeshan, a Tamilnadu Bodybuilder, lee a super model, and a henchback. The film is above 3 hours length. The DOP of the film was P C Sreeram and Music was done by none other than A R Rahman. The main characters are played by Vikram, Amy Jackson, Suresh Gopi, Upan Patel, Santhanam, Mohan Kapoor, Srinivasan etc and the reports from the theaters says that Vikram and Suresh gopi is getting much of the applause from the spectators. Earlier there was a rumour before the release of the film that Suresh Gopi does not have a promonent role in the film and that is why he is omitted from the teasers and trailer of the film. But after the release all is well now for the fans of Suresh Gopi.

The fans and film lovers are waiting for this AI spectacle to hit the screens for almost 3 years and the film had generated a great deal of hype before its release owing to multiple postponement of its releasing dates. However after release the film is getting Mixed opinion from the spectators. When it is surely a Mass masala entertainer for the common audience, it is not lived up to the hype which it created pre-release.

Reports are also suggesting that the script and direction of Shankar was not up to the expectations and film had remained only to a beautiful show of visuals and song sequences in most parts rather than telling a convincing story without much lag. Anyway we have to wait and see whether AI will be the biggest blockbuster of Indian cinema as expected or will it be a let -down for the Shankar fans as the film is getting mixed opinion. Time will tell it..

I Tamil Movie Review

I, the magnum opus of Show man Shankar at last hit the screens today and being the biggest ever film in his and actor Vikram’s career it has generated hell of a lot expectation among the viewers who waited for it for more than 3 years. But is it raised up to the expectation level? That is the question we need to answer to the public who gives value to our opinion. Frankly saying, it is a big “no” from our side as the answer of the above question. Then we know the next question in your mind. What makes us to say like this..?..Well, the answer to that question is to be explained a little bit.

Ideals with a story of love and revenge. May be we can say that on old wine in a new bottle type of concept. It is the story of how the Tamilnadu Body builder Lingesan turn into a Hunchback who is wandering with a mind to take revenge. How Lingeshan becomes the super model Lee and who is helping him and who is betraying him with love and friendship.

We are not delving much deep into the story as it will be a spoiler for those who did not watched it yet and for those who want to watch it irrespective of our final review. If we have to find the plus points in the film, we have to say it only about the actors. Vikram was just brilliant and his transition from one character to another was the highlight of the film and that is what Ai is all out arguably. Any Jackson was looking gorgeous and her chemistry with Vikram was stupendous. Suresh Gopi do not have great screen space but his character have the power and he just did his best for the role he got.

Now the negatives have to be told to you as well. Yes, as you guessed there is a lot to tell. First and the most negative part of the film was its script and direction by Shankar himself. A  really predictable story which takes forward the spectator to a rather predictable climax. The narration was mixed with past and present events and the 186 minute length makes the audience to search for any thrills in the film himself. The lip synchronization of the characters of Diya (Amy Jackson) and John (Upan Patel) was horrible to say the least.

P C sreeram’s DOP was like sea waves. Sometimes it is went to high quality which gava a real visual treat and sometimes it went to that low that it looks terrible in terms of the visual clarity. A R Rahman’s songs were not up to the mark and his magic seems to be on the decline. It just seems that Shanker had only tried to give some good visuals and included some advertisements for some popular brands through the visuals.

Anyway it was only for the performance of Vikram and other actors especially Suresh Gopi and a Surprise performance from Mohan kapoor that the film stands to an average level. When we consider the waiting, the hype, the expectation and the hope on the highly talented technicians like Shankar, I was a disappointment. But if you can (?) go and watch it without all the earlier mentioned conditions, then you can enjoy the film as a usual Taamil festival flick and nothing more than that.

Shooting of Bangalore Days remake from March onwards

Bangalore Days is at top of ladder when it comes to the most successful movies in 2014. It toppled other movies to become the biggest commercial success of the year. The youth and the grown ups have welcomed the movie wholeheartedly. The movie was an unpretentious presentation of the lives of three cousins who want to celebrate their life as much as they can.  It also dealt with the serious topic of marriage and relationships. Nazriya’s Divya held the mirror to the hardships young girls face while attempting to cope with her new life, especially where your life partner is the exact opposite of yourself.  It also showed how crucial it is to find your true love and to follow the voice of your heart in order to find real happiness in your life.

It was noted earlier that the movie is already earmarked for the remakes in other languages such as Tamil and Telugu. However, Anjali Menon will not be in the charge of the remakes. That responsibility is on Bhaskar who has proven himself as a worthy candidate to reproduce the movie after his excellent directorial work in the Telegu movie Bommarillu. The movie reportedly has Siddharth, Arya, Nithya Menen, Samantha in the central roles.

Naga Chaithanya will join the cast for the Telugu replication. The latest word coming from the sources is that Bobby Simha who has delivered an impressive performance in the film Jigarthanda will also take part in the movie as another important character.  As per the information, he will participate in the Tamil version of the movie.  It is said that Sunil will reprise the role for the Telugu version of the movie.

Nithya Menen also appeared in the Malayalam version where she did the role of the girlfriend of Fahadh’s character Das. Though her character did not have a lengthy appearance, she played an important role in the character portrayal of Das. This time, she will be coupled with Arya. Samantha will fill in the shoes of Nazriya in the remake. As for the remaining cast, we are yet to receive verification as to which roles they will represent. They will commence shooting in March.

72nd Golden Globe Award Winners

The winners of the 72nd Golden Globe Awards was declared in a grand function held at California. Boyhood bagged the top prize for the best movie. The brain behind the movie, Richard Linklater was announced the best director.  He revealed that the movie was intimate to him and to all the actors who were involved in the movie.

Eddie Redmayne earned the award for his performance in the movie The Theory of Everything.  He represented Stephen Hawking in the movie.  During his acceptance speech, he said that it was a prestigious thing to obtain a chance to get close to Stephen Hawking .The best female actor award went to Juliannne Moore for the movie Still Alice for the depiction of a woman suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. The Grand Budapest was elected the best movie in the Musical and comedy category.

Michael Keaton was rewarded with the best actor award in the category of Music and Comedy for the movie Birdman whereas Amy Adams was chosen the best female actor for the movie Big Eyes. Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Alexander Dinelaris, Nicolas Giacobone, Armando Bo were named the winners for the best screenplay for the movie Birdman.The Golden Globe Award for the best foreign movie went to the Russian movie Leviathan.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 secured the award for the best animation movie. J.J.Simmons received the award for the best supporting actor for the movie Whiplash. Patricia Arquette has beaten the other nominees to win the award for the best supporting actress for the movie Boyhood.  Johann Johannsson captured the award for the Original score for his amazing work in the movie The Theory of Everything. John Legend procured the Golden Globe Award for the best original for the song Glory in the movie Selma.

Boyhood is the conquering hero of the Globe award as it scored three awards including the best movie, director and the supporting actress. As for the prime time television, The Affair was locked in as the winner for the best drama.While Kevin Spacey was conferred with the award for the best actor in a drama for House of Cards, Ruth Wilson emerged victorious as the best actress for The Affair. Golden Globe Award is regarded as the most reliable prognosticators of the Oscar winners, which elevates its relevance.

Taken 3 Review

Taken 3, the latest one in the Taken series hit the screens and ended up not as good as the previous two films in the series. Everyone knows how the story of the film goes from the first two films of the series, but we still watch it. Taken is always marketed and promoted as a film series which tells the story of a father-Daughter relation rather than an action or crime film.

The film Taken 3 is produced by  Luc Besson  and directed by Olivier Megaton. The cast list includes Liam Neeson, Dougray Scott, Sam Spruell, Famke Janssen, Maggie Grace, Forest Whitaker and Leland Orser. Script was written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen . The music department was handled by Nathaniel Méchaly , who also done the background scoring also. Cinematography of the movie was done by Eric Kress.

Liam neeson is at his usual best and he had given life to the character named Bryan who is a retired CIA operative and one who is living separate from his wife Lenore. They had a daughter named Kim. Lenore is now married to a business man named stuart, but at the point of time in the film, she want to come back to Bryan as she developed a kind of disinterest towards stuart. This is not a story of their relation, but an action film with a bearing of human emotions which is the base of all stories. It is as usual, like the other films in this series, a story in which brayan does anything to save and protect his family from danger and tight situations in life.

We always watch taken series to see Liam Neeson and his performance. The story level are almost the same and it was his performance that elevates the films to another level. But this time the story is too weak that even Liam neeson’s performance was not enough to save it from fall into a below average category.  The film follows the usual path with some chases, action sequences here and there, some hideouts for brayan and family and at last a really predictable climax. The narrative of the film was too slow and the action sequences shot in a way that it made the film more slow. You may like the film only for Liam’s performance as he gave his all to the film. If the action portions and the twist intended part had taken care of in a smart way the film would have been much better than what it is looking now.
